Outrigger hotels, positioned in the South Pacific's most captivating settings, deliver unforgettable experiences to their guests—a narrative that was notably absent from their website. In my role as Design Director, I guided a multidisciplinary team, emphasizing user-centric design principles. Our objective was to transform the website into a more immersive platform that not only narrates the unique story of the Outrigger experience but also simplifies the booking journey for users, ensuring a seamless and engaging interaction from start to finish.

Insights
Following stakeholder interviews, it was clear that prioritizing the mobile experience was essential for Outrigger, as insights demonstrated a significant trend of users booking hotel rooms via mobile devices. This led us to adopt a mobile-first strategy, ensuring that the design was not only visually appealing and simple but also immersive and streamlined. Emphasizing a mobile-first approach proved to be the right decision, as it allowed us to integrate location-based functionalities, facilitating users to discover and book their preferred destinations effortlessly, all while maintaining their progress seamlessly.

the beginning, ensuring that both practices could help each other by providing Ideas, concepts, and designs. This allowed for visual design and UX to effectively apply and integrate all the proposed components from the user experience.

The scale and impact of this project required all of our teams, from back-end to front-end, UX, UI, content, strategy, analitics and design to work and collaborate closely with each other, we operated in an agile framework with 2-3 weeks sprints and we also implemented a design thinking approach to all probelm solving, this allows to iterate quickly and efficiently and all the teams were able to see progress in multiple directions allowing all of us to decide on what to proceed with and get our clients on board with our decisions.

Located in some of the most spectacular locations around the globe, Outrigger's hotels and resorts deserve to be showcased in the best possible light. We engaged in a thorough selection process for each image, aiming to inspire wonder, showcase beauty, and highlight culture. The chosen colors were designed to reflect the diverse atmospheres of each location, yet still preserve the unique Outrigger vibe known and loved by Hawaiian locals.
